MTN FUN Basecamp Wildfire Status
Dear Guests,
We want to keep you fully informed about the current wildfire situation near Dryden Creek and how it affects your visit to Mountain Fun Basecamp.
What’s Happening
There are currently no visible fires or smoke on or near our campground. The wildfire moved along the east flank of the campground, but did not burn any live trees within the campground boundaries. The fire mostly affected deadfall, undergrowth, and brush along the west face of Debecks Mountain, which borders the east side of our campground.
Safety Assessments Underway
The District of Squamish is working closely with geomorphologists to assess safety risks related to Debecks Mountain, including potential deadfall or rockslide hazards. This ongoing process is essential to ensure the safety of all guests and staff.
What This Means for Your Booking
The east side of the campground remains closed as a precaution while safety assessments continue. This includes all serviced RV sites in that area.
The west side is open and welcoming guests, with cabins, lodge rooms, and a limited number of unserviced walk-in and RV-friendly sites available.
While no live trees or infrastructure were damaged by the fire, closures remain in place until authorities confirm it is safe to reopen fully.
Accommodating East Side Bookings on the West Side
We are actively working to accommodate guests with east side reservations on the west side, where space is limited but available. Our team will be reaching out directly to affected guests to offer options.
Because capacity is limited, we are prioritizing stays based on factors such as reservation dates, length of stay, and special circumstances. We appreciate your understanding as we do our best to accommodate everyone safely and fairly.
How We’re Managing Guest Support
Due to an unusually high volume of inquiries, we are currently only able to assist guests via email. We are working hard to respond as promptly as possible. To focus our efforts, we are prioritizing bookings with dates most immediately affected by closures and are not working on reservations further out that are currently not impacted.
Your Options
If your reservation is on the west side, your booking is confirmed and we look forward to welcoming you.
If your reservation is on the east side or serviced RV sites, affected bookings will be cancelled. We will contact impacted guests directly with options for refunds or flexible rebooking.
If your booking falls outside the currently affected timeframe and you choose to cancel, our standard cancellation policy will apply. Please note that refunds may take some time to process due to insurance and payment provider timelines. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
We continue to monitor conditions closely and will provide updates as the situation evolves.
What We’re Doing
Working with local authorities and experts to prioritize guest and staff safety.
Monitoring wildfire activity and geomorphological risks continuously.
Providing timely updates and clear communication.
Operating the west side safely with limited availability.
Thank You for Your Understanding
We appreciate your patience and support during this time. Your safety is our highest priority, and we remain committed to welcoming you when and where it is safe to do so.
